IMPAACT Network Executive Committee Call for Nominations
This serves as a call for nominations for the following positions on the IMPAACT Network Executive Committee:
RESPONSE DUE: July 19th by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time
· (2) Domestic NIAID investigators, 1 must be a site PI
· (2) International NIAID Site PIs
· (1) International NICHD or NIAID investigator
All qualified IMPAACT NIAID and NICHD investigators are being asked to submit their nominees along with the requested information listed below for consideration. This call for nominations is not limited to Principal Investigators.
The term of office for the positions will be 4 years or until the end of this Grant cycle. An 8% time commitment is required and network core funds will support this effort. The responsibilities of the Network Executive Committee include:
· Defining the scope of the scientific agenda of IMPAACT;
· Granting final approval or disapproval of budgets for concept sheets, protocols, and other scientific activities of the group;
· Electing Chairs and Vice Chairs of the Scientific Committees, Standing and Resource Committees;
· Fiscal management of the NIAID IMPAACT, including, but not limited to, establishment of the schedule for the Group Chair's fiscal reports to the Network Executive Committee;
· Allocating resources of the central NIAID IMPAACT Core Award, including, but not limited to, establishment of the level at which approval by the Network Executive Committee is required for expenditure of funds;
· Establishing policies and procedures of IMPAACT;
· Establishing performance standards for all participating sites and members, each IMPAACT Central Laboratory, the Statistical and Data Management Center (SDMC), the Operations Center; and the Leadership group;
· Developing a problem-resolution policy and process;
· Determining disciplinary action for participating sites and members, including recommendations to the NIAID and NICHD regarding core site funding;
· Allocating Protocol Implementation Funds (PIF). PIF will be allocated and distributed to IMPAACT affiliated sites annually, primarily through DAIDS, based on recommendation of the Network Executive Committee. Some PIF will be distributed through the Operations Center based on approval of the Network Executive Committee.
Requirements of the position include:
1. The ability to make the necessary time commitment
2. Having successful HIV network site experience
3. Having experience in the area of pediatric/perinatal HIV treatment and/or prevention
4. Having leadership experience in protocol development; and the ability to travel to meetings as required
The Joint SOC/NEC calls are held every Wednesday from 12:30 - 2:00 PM ET.
NEC only calls are held on an as needed basis on Thursdays from 12:30 - 2:00 PM ET.
Nominees are asked to submit the following:
1. A one page letter of intent, addressing the requirements listed above (for distribution to voting PIs)
2. A full curriculum vitae that is more extensive than the 2-page NIH biosketch format (for distribution to voting PIs)
3. A list of other financial support and a plan for how you will make any necessary adjustments for the required time commitment for the position (for IMPAACT Leadership review)
