IMPAACT Vaccine/Immuno-based Therapy Scientific Committee Domestic Investigator Call for Nominations
This serves as a call for nominations for a Domestic Investigator for the IMPAACT Vaccine/Immuno-based Therapy Scientific Committee
All investigators are eligible; this solicitation is not limited to principal investigators.
· (1) Domestic Investigator
TERM: The term of office for the position will be 3 years or until the end of this Grant cycle. Meetings are held the 3rd Monday of the month at 11:00 am ET
The Vaccine/Immuno-based Therapy Scientific Committee focuses on therapeutic and prophylactic HIV vaccines. The group also addresses HIV pathogenesis questions that are immune related and has developed a number of new works concept sheets evaluating gut translocation and the associated inflammatory response; antibody and cellular response to H1N1 influenza vaccine; and genetic markers associated with long term non-progression, among others.
After recent positive results from an adult prophylactic vaccine trial in Thailand and the successful completion of HPTN 027: "A Phase I Study to Evaluate the Safety and Immunogenicity of ALVAC-HIV vCP1521 in Infants Born to HIV-1 Infected Women in Uganda", we anticipate increased interest in future HIV trials in HIV exposed infants. Once vaccine is available, we would like to move such trials forward as soon as possible.
